North Cowichan Councillor Al Siebring discusses the referendum results on CFAX, June 26, 2018

A major initiative in local governance took place by our neighbours in two municipalities just one hour north of Greater Victoria.

The municipalities of Duncan (pop. 4,944) and North Cowichan (pop. 28,807) undertook a Provincial jointly funded and supported process to determine if amalgamation is right for their communities. (See BC review and program guide to Managing Changes to Local Government Structure )

Public information sessions and information on the Citizens Assembly Report leading up to the June 23, 2018 binding vote on amalgamating the City of Duncan and the District of North Cowichan were held.  visit: www.youdecide.ca
