Thirteen municipalities have different needs

Re: “Saanich mayor shouldn’t ignore residents’ wishes,” letter, Sept. 27.
I have been a taxpayer in Saanich for 23 years. During that time, my property taxes have gone up very gradually and in two instances stayed the same or gone down. Very manageable indeed.
Our parks can compete with the best. Our roads, for the most part, are good and repaired on a regular basis.
The letter-writer is assuming Saanich residents want an amalgamation question on the ballot in November. That was done only on his straw poll.
All 13 municipalities are unique and have different needs, for the most part. I dread to think of that “huge table” with all 13 municipalities or even part of the sum.
People should be careful what they wish for and give it good consideration before marking the question.
