Province must intervene in regional chaos

Times Colonist
May 23, 2014

Re:  Axing of crime unit takes us backward,” May 22.

The municipalities are creatures of the province. The province has the authority to create them and to change them.

The municipalities in Greater Victoria are acting like spoiled, petulant children. With the recent collapse of the Regional Crime Unit, the endless morass of the sewage debate and the fact there is no accepted regional transportation plan, the problems are getting more serious. This is now putting the health and safety of the region’s population at risk.

Sometimes the parent needs to grab the children by the scruff of the neck and shake some sense into them. That time is now. The province needs to take action before someone gets really hurt.
