FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (February 26, 2015)
Amalgamation Yes releases draft study methodology for Provincially-led governance review in the Capital Region
Following on previously released overarching guidelines for a governance review in the Capital Region, Amalgamation Yes has prepared a suggested draft study methodology for municipal governments and the Province to consider.
The three documents consist of a detailed Amalgamation Study Methodology, an abbreviated Amalgamation Study Framework, and an Amalgamation Study Flow Chart.
“We're hopeful that municipal councils and the Province will consider these documents as a useful starting point for their discussions”, said Tony Heemskerk. “The methodology is not intended to be prescriptive, but rather a draft that could be useful in devising a study structure and process for a complete and effective study,”
“The electorate is expecting to see progress towards fulfilling the mandate delivered in the November 2014 election. A governance review is a major project for Greater Victoria. Our intent, through creation of the proposed methodology, is to initiate thinking on how a Provincially-led study might proceed” stated Heemskerk. “Residents are anxious to have a say in the issues covered by a governance review, as evidenced by the series of Conversations now underway in the region”, he added.
