Politicians should be proactive on issues

Re: “Langford mayor in conflict, slate says,” Nov. 13.
Colwood Mayor Carol Hamilton states that she has not been approached about sharing municipal yard-waste services. However, she says that: “We’re looking to find ways to cost-share on services.”
What happened to being proactive about such issues? How about approaching others, rather than waiting for others to approach you? Another reasonable approach would be to explore the amalgamation issue, which would reasonably address such cost-sharing. But, oh, that question was not on the ballot in Colwood. Ouch.
