One amalgamation question, not 13

Re: “Candidates gear up for civic-election campaign,” Oct. 11.
The time is here for whatever ministry in the provincial government that is responsible for overseeing cities and towns to get into the fray in the Capital Regional District.
We don’t need 13 questions produced by 13 spin doctors on the ballot. One question for all districts with a yes or no answer, no middle ground to muddle it up. One simple question such as: “Are you in favour of the government pursuing the options available for amalgamation in the capital region?”
The mayor of Saanich has had his spin doctors creating havoc after he finally acquiesced to putting it on the November ballot, but I as a Saanich resident don’t quite know what it is that he said. Maybe some help out there would be to let the electorate know that yes for amalgamation would cause the CRD to cease to exist.
