Oak Bay should participate in amalgamation talks

Oak Bay News Letters
May 29, 2015

I am a resident of Oak Bay and support Oak Bay council being part of the discussion around amalgamation.

Oak Bay is about five per cent of the population of the Greater Victoria area and will have no effective voice at the table without participating. By being part of the discussion we at least will have our diminutive population represented, potentially more so than we deserve based on numbers only.

I also believe the intent of the average Oak Bay citizen may have been invalidated due to the vague nature of the question on the ballot. The only way to have an informed citizens opinion is to provide information that is current, relevant and fulsome. I completely endorse Oak Bay council having active involvement in the amalgamation discussions.
