Oak Bay folks welcome to discuss amalgamation

Re: “Core municipalities should show leadership,” letter, Feb. 11.
I think Oak Bay residents should be welcomed to participate in any amalgamation discussions, as it is important to remember they were never asked if they wanted to study the subject.
As Mayor Nils Jensen coined it, they were asked “if they wanted to disappear,” which had nothing to do with a study that the greater community was seeking.
A great election highlight, from my perspective, was that 40 per cent of Oak Bay voters saw through this veneer and offered to vote themselves into imaginary oblivion.
