FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (November 10th, 2014)

Saanich voters complain of not being properly informed of question on ballot.

AmalgamationYes is receiving concerns from voters at advanced polls in Saanich that in their ballot instruction, they received no indication there was an amalgamation question on the ballot and further, that the question is hard to note being placed at very bottom of ballot.

“While it is unfortunate the question appears poorly placed, our primary concern is there appears to be instances where voters are not being uniformly reminded of the amalgamation question as part of their ballot instruction”, said John Vickers, spokesperson for Amalgamation Yes. “We remain hopeful such instances are not the norm and that election officials are doing their best to ensure everyone receives the proper instruction.”

Anyone who has a concern over voting is encouraged to address those concerns to Elections BC and Minister Coralee Oakes, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.
