The Mayor of Victoria has suggested openly that the Capital Regional District is crumbling...
“I don’t think we can get anything done at the CRD”
Dean Fortin made his somewhat despairing remarks in the context of a city council debate on how Victoria should proceed with its own solution to the sewage treatment problem...
We thought that we were all supposed to work together and make that happen…and everyone, for want of a better term, does what we need to do for the greater good of the region. That is not where we are any more. It is almost like, at the region it is now every man for himself”
Council's Priorities Committee has voted to approve spending 210 thousand dollars on a work plan to determine how the city should proceed...including the question of possible partnerships with Oak Bay and Saanich.
