Amalgamation poll asked sloppy questions

Re: “84% in capital region favour amalgamation, poll says,” July 30.
Eighty-four per cent — seriously? We hate our local governments more than we hated the HST? (55 per cent voted to repeal in 2011.) The GST? (75-85 per cent in 1990.) Even the Iraq war? (71 per cent of Canadians in 2003.)
Judging by the sloppy questions asked, the problem isn’t bad government — it’s bad polling.
