It’s odd that Jensen wants to chair CRD board

Re: “Jensen, Desjardins want to take helm of capital region board,” Nov. 19.
So Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen is interested in being the next chairman of the Capital Regional District board of directors.
This is the same mayor who publicly stated his opposition to Oak Bay amalgamating at a Nov. 4 all-candidates meeting. He is the same mayor responsible for the municipality’s election referendum question, a question that didn’t even allow for the exploration of shared regional services or political governance. Oak Bay was the only municipality rejecting the concept of regional amalgamation.
Yet Jensen wants to chair the CRD board, which is responsible for governing region-wide interests, that mandate of which is “working to serve the public, and build a vibrant, liveable and sustainable region.”
