Don’t vote for those who oppose referendum

Re: “Don’t be afraid of merger vote,” editorial, Sept. 10.
The pros and cons of amalgamation have been an issue ever since I arrived in Victoria 27 years ago. Local municipal councils have been asked to pose a non-binding question on the next municipal election to see what you think about the issue. But some mayors and councillors are still not willing to even pose the question. They either think they know better than you do about what you think, or they fear the possibility that they may have to give up being the big frogs in their little ponds.
Here’s an idea: Find out which of your mayors and councillors do not want to hear your opinion and do not vote for them. They, apparently, are happy with such things as the Capital Regional District’s handling of the sewage file and the many other status quo inefficiencies within Greater Victoria.
They don’t want to hear from you. Why reward this closed-minded crew by returning them to govern us?
